March 6, 2010, Lonnie Matthiesen, age 39 of Sibley, Iowa was arrested for allegedly Operating While Intoxicated 1st Offense, a Serious Misdemeanor; and Open Container, a Simple Misdemeanor.  Matthiesen was booked into the Osceola County Jail on a $1,300 cash bond.  Iowa Highway Patrol assisted at the scene.

March 6, 2010, at 1:33 pm, Gregory Rehms, age 58 of Sioux Falls, South Dakota was driving a 2008 GMC Yukon, eastbound on Hwy 9, west of Polk Avenue when Rehms fell asleep, crossed the center line and entered the north ditch.  Rehms’ vehicle sustained approximately $2,350 damage.  No injuries were reported.

March 6, 2010, at 11:44 am, Levi Christensen, age 20 of Sibley, Iowa was driving a 1996 GMC Sierra, southbound on 5th Avenue, approaching the intersection of 6th Street.  Sylvia Rolfes, age 67 of Sibley, Iowa was driving a 2006 Chrysler, westbound on 6th Street, at the intersection of 5th Avenue and failed to see Christensen’s vehicle approaching and collided in the intersection.  The momentum of the collision caused both vehicles to enter the southwest corner of the intersection where Rolfes’ vehicle struck a tree.  Christensen’s vehicle sustained approximately $3,000 damage.  Rolfes’ vehicle sustained approximately $8,500 damage and was given a citation for Failure to Yield to Vehicle on the Right.  A private party transported Rolfes to the Osceola Community Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.  No other injuries were reported. 

March 6, 2010, at 8:20 am, Verne Meyer, age 64 of Sioux Center, Iowa was driving a 2002 Ford Explorer, westbound on 220th Street, west of Van Buren Avenue and lost control on the icy roadway, rolled the vehicle into the north ditch where it come to rest on its top.  Meyer’s vehicle sustained approximately $2,500 damage.  No injuries were reported.

March 5, 2010, at 10:35 am, Phyllis Kor, age 78 or Worthington, Minnesota was driving a 1995 Ford Escort eastbound into the Sibley Vet Clinic driveway and was going to stop and park in front of the business but stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake and ran into the front of the building.  Kor’s vehicle sustained approximately $200 damage.  The Sibley Vet Clinic sustained approximately $10,000 damage.  No injuries were reported. 

March 3, 2010, the Osceola County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at 1004 5th Place in Sibley, Iowa.  Pablo Marchessini, age 23 of Sibley, Iowa was arrested for allegedly having Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Offense, an Aggravated Misdemeanor; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor; and Prohibited Acts, an Aggravated Misdemeanor.  Marchessini was booked into the Osceola County Jail and posted a $4,300 cash bond.

February 26, 2010, Joshua Fields, age 22 of Round Lake, Minnesota, pled guilty to Theft 3rd Degree, an Aggravated Misdemeanor.  The Defendant is to pay a fine of $1,137.50, the cost of this action, restitution of any court appointed attorney fees, and victim restitution, if any.  The Defendant is sentenced to imprisonment in the Osceola County Jail for a term of 100 days, with 90 days suspended and placed on informal probation to the Osceola County Sheriff for a period of 2 years.  On July 22, 2009, Joshua Fields possessed stolen property from a burglary that occurred in Lake Park, Iowa. 

February 26, 2010, Tyler Davids, age 23 of Sibley, Iowa, pled guilty to Operating While Intoxicated 1st Offense, a Serious Misdemeanor.  The Defendant is to pay a fine of $2,541.25, the cost of this action, and restitution of any court appointed attorney fees, if any.  The Defendant is sentenced to imprisonment in the Osceola County Jail for a term of 60 days, with 44 days suspended and placed on informal probation to the Iowa Department of Corrections for a period of 2 years.  The Defendant shall undergo a substance abuse evaluation and comply with the treatments recommendations.  Davids also pled guilty to being in Contempt of Court for violating the terms of a prior probation.  The Defendant’s probation shall be extended for one more additional year and be placed on a waiting list to a Residential Treatment Facility and successful complete the program.  On November 5, 2009, Osceola County Deputies were called out to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Sibley, Iowa.  The defendant, Tyler Davids, left the residence and was later located in the 1700 block of Oriole Avenue.  Deputies detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage on Davids’ breath and tested over .08.  Davids was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated 1st offense. 

February 25, 2010, at 12:00 am, Scot Scheerhoorn, age 51 of Spirit Lake, Iowa, was driving a 1992 Pontiac Grand Prix, northbound on Hwy 60, north of 190th Street and entered the west shoulder of the roadway.  Scheerhoorn overcorrected and slid over to the east shoulder of the roadway, causing the vehicle to roll over one time, striking a reflector post before coming to rest on its wheels.  Scheerhoorn’s vehicle sustained approximately $1,500 damage.  The reflector post, owned by the Iowa Department of Transportation, sustained approximately $20 damage.  Scheerhoorn was issued a citation for Failure to Maintain Control.  No injuries were reported. 

February 25, 2010, at 1:09 am, Brian Okonofua, age 22 of Wayne, Nebraska, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu, northbound on Hwy 60, south of 240th Street and entered the east shoulder of the roadway.  Okonofua overcorrected and slid into the median where the vehicle flipped onto its top.  Okonofua’s vehicle sustained approximately $10,000 damage.  No injuries were reported. 

February 25, 2010, Daniel Ralph Riley, 30, of Sibley, Iowa was arrested and charged with the alleged Possession of a Controlled Substance (5th offense), an Aggravated Misdemeanor; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor and Unlawful Possession of a Prescription Drug, a Serious Misdemeanor.  The charges stemmed from a search warrant executed by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office at 503 3rd Avenue, Apt. #2 in Sibley, Iowa.  Riley is currently being held at the Osceola County jail on a $1,000 cash bond.

February 23, 2010, at 3:30 pm, Jed Cox, age 28 of Sheldon, Iowa was driving a 2001 Ford pickup, westbound on 210th Street, west of Nettle Avenue when Cox lost control on the icy roadway and entered the south ditch where it rolled onto its left side.  Cox’s vehicle sustained approximately $2,500 damage.  No injuries were reported.

February 23, 2010, the Osceola County Sheriff's Office arrested Christopher Joseph Sontag, age 35 of Sibley, Iowa for allegedly committing Assault, a Simple Misdemeanor.  Sontag was booked into the Osceola County Jail on a $300 cash bond.

February 19, 2010, at 6:45 pm, Darcy Smith, age 32 of Spirit Lake, was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe, southbound on Hwy 60, north of 230th Street and struck a deer on the roadway.  Smith’s vehicle sustained approximately $3,500 damage.  No injuries were reported. 

February 13, 2010, at 2:53 pm, Calvin Mellies, age 41 of Moville, Iowa, was driving a 2001 Ford pickup, southbound on Hwy 60, south of 100th Street and lost control, causing the vehicle to enter the median and land on its side.  Mellies’ vehicle, owned by Koch Nitrogen Co of Sergeant Bluffs, Iowa, sustained approximately $2,000 damage.  No injuries were reported. 

February 12, 2010, Nicholas Klatt, age 30 of Melvin, Iowa, pled guilty to Possession of Marijuana, a Serious Misdemeanor and Possession of Methamphetamine, a Serious Misdemeanor.  The Defendant is to pay a total fine of $1,420.50, the cost of this action, and restitution of any court appointed attorney fees, if any.  The Defendant is sentenced to imprisonment in the Osceola County Jail for a term of 90 days, with all time suspended except for 9 days on both offenses to be served concurrently.  The Defendant is placed on formal probation to the Iowa Department of Corrections for a period of 2 years.  The Defendant shall undergo and successfully complete a Substance Abuse Treatment Program.  On April 16, 2009, Osceola County Deputies conducted a search warrant at Nicholas Klatt’s residence in Melvin, Iowa.  During the search of the residence, a small amount of marijuana was found.  On May 18, 2009, an Osceola County Deputy found a baggie with crystal residue inside it while searching Nicholas Klatt’s as he was being booked into the Osceola County Jail on a valid Osceola County warrant. 

February 12, 2010, Jason Whitcanack, age 33 of Ashton, Iowa pled guilty to Disorderly Conduct, a Simple Misdemeanor.  The Defendant is to pay a fine of $1,844.54, the cost of this action, restitution of any court appointed attorney, if any, and victim restitution.  The defendant is sentenced to serve 30 days in the Osceola County Jail, with all time suspended and placed on informal probation to the Osceola County Sheriff for a period of 2 years.  On September 5, 2009, a male victim insulted Jason Whitcanack as he walked by his residence in Ashton, Iowa.  Whitcanack then struck the male victim in the head with an ax handle.

February 9, 2010, at 4:33 pm, Corey Slagter, age 17 of Sibley, Iowa, was driving a 2001 Chevrolet pickup, northbound on Hwy 60, south of 220th Street and lost control due to the icy road conditions.  Slagter’s vehicle entered the east ditch where it rolled one time and came to rest on its wheels.  Slagter’s vehicle sustained approximately $1,500 damage.  Slagter was transported to the Osceola Community Hospital by Ashton Ambulance with possible injuries.  Ashton Fire Department and Ashton Ambulance assisted at the scene.

February 8, 2010, Heather Lavoie, age 23 of Sibley, Iowa, pled guilty to Assault, a Simple Misdemeanor; a Probation Revocation for Assault, a Simple Misdemeanor; and Driving While Suspended, a Simple Misdemeanor.  The Defendant is to pay a total fine of $752.50, the cost of this action, and restitution of any court appointed attorney fees, if any.  The Defendant is sentenced to imprisonment in the Osceola County Jail for a term of 10 days, with 8 days suspended on both Assault charges, which are to be served individually.  The Defendant is placed on informal probation to the Osceola County Sheriff for a period of 2 years.  On December 7, 2009, Heather Lavoie was issued a citation for Driving While Suspended following a traffic stop on 2nd Avenue and 10th Street in Sibley, Iowa.  On November 7, 2009, Heather Lavoie physically assaulted a male victim that intervened a verbal argument in Sibley, Iowa.  Following an investigation, Lavoie was charged with Simple Assault.  As a result, Lavoie violated the terms of her probation on a previous Assault charge that occurred on September 20, 2008 in which Lavoie pled guilty to attacking a female victim following a verbal altercation at the victim’s residence in Sibley, Iowa.

February 8, 2010, Jose Rodriguez Monzon, age 33 of Sibley, Iowa pled guilty to Failure to Have a Driver’s License, a Simple Misdemeanor.  The Defendant is to pay a fine of $195, the cost of this action, and restitution of any court appointed attorney fees, if any.  On January 14, 2010, Jose Monzon was cited for Failure to Have a Driver’s License following a traffic stop in Sibley, Iowa.

February 8, 2010, Jason Devos, age 28 of Sheldon, Iowa, pled guilty to Driving While Suspended, a Simple Misdemeanor.  The Defendant is to pay a fine of $397.50, the cost of this action, and restitution of any court appointed attorney fees, if any.  On January 18, 2010, Jason Devos was arrested for Driving While Suspended following a traffic stop for a traffic violation in Sibley, Iowa.

February 8, 2010, at 2:35 pm, Cherie White, age 50 of Sibley, Iowa was driving a 1996 Chevrolet Blazer, westbound on 10th Street, east of 5th Avenue in Sibley, Iowa.  Karissa Harms, age 16 of Sibley, Iowa was backing a 1995 Pontiac Bonneville from a residential driveway on 10th Street, east of 5th Avenue and did not see White’s vehicle approaching due to the large snow pile at the end of the driveway, causing both vehicles to collide on the roadway.  White’s vehicle sustained approximately $1,800 damage.  Harms’ vehicle sustained approximately $3,000 damage and was given a citation for Failure to Yield Upon Entering Through Highway.  No injuries were reported. 

February 7, 2010, at 10:00 am, Nathan Marco, age 25 of Faribault, Minnesota, was driving a 2004 Nissan Murano, southbound on 10th Avenue, approaching the intersection of 7th Street in Sibley.  Roy Lindokken, age 50 of Sibley, Iowa, was driving a 1998 Oldsmobile Aurora, westbound on 7th Street, at the intersection of 10th Avenue and did not see Marco’s vehicle due to the high snow pile at the corner of the intersection, causing both vehicles to collide on the roadway.  Lindokken’s vehicle sustained approximately $400 damage.  Marco’s vehicle sustained approximately $400 damage.  No injuries were reported.

February 7, 2010, at 7:20 pm, William Doornink, age 48 of Spirit Lake, Iowa was driving a 2000 Chevrolet pickup, northbound on Hwy 60, attempting to take the off ramp onto Hwy 9 when Doornink lost control and hit the Exit 53 road sign.  Doornink’s vehicle sustained approximately $2,000 damage.  The Iowa DOT sign sustained approximately $100 damage.  No injuries were reported. 

February 5, 2010, at 9:45 am, Allison Helmers, age 18 of Melvin, Iowa was driving a 2009 Pontiac G6, northbound on Sorrel Avenue, approaching the intersection of 240th Street.  Myron VanEngen, age 54 of Melvin, Iowa was driving a 1997 CAT Road Grader, westbound on 240th Street, stopped at the intersection of Sorrel Avenue.  VanEngen attempted to turn northbound onto Sorrel Avenue and did not see Helmers vehicle approaching and collided in the intersection.  Helmers’ vehicle sustained approximately $8,000 damage.  The CAT Road Grader, owned by the Osceola County Road Department, sustained approximately $500 damage.  VanEngen was given a citation for Failure to Yield Upon Entering Through Highway.  No injuries were reported.

February 4, 2010, at 6:30 am, An Vuong, age 46 of Worthington, Minnesota was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Impala, southbound on Hwy 60, north of Ashton when several deer entered the roadway.  Vuong attempted to brake to miss the deer and lost control of the vehicle due to the icy road conditions, entered the west ditch were the vehicle rolled onto its top.  Vuong’s vehicle sustained approximately $2,000 damage.  No injuries were reported.

February 4, 2010, at 8:45 am, Marique Andringa, age 30 of Sanborn, Iowa was driving a 2001 Ford pickup, northbound on Pierce Avenue, at the intersection of 210th Street.  Andringa lost control on the icy roadway and rolled the vehicle into the east ditch, striking a stop sign and a telephone utility box.  Andringa’s vehicle sustained approximately $6,000 damage.  The Osceola County stop sign sustained approximately $200 damage and a Hickory Tech utility box sustained approximately $300 damage.  Andringa sustained possible injuries and was transported to the Osceola Community Hospital.  Sibley Fire and Rescue and Sibley Ambulance assisted at the scene.

January 31, 2010, at 7:05 pm, Brooke Sundberg, age 20 of Arlington, South Dakota was driving a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix, northbound on Hwy 60, north of 230th Street and collided with a deer on the roadway.  Sundberg’s vehicle sustained approximately $3,500 damage.  No injuries were reported. 

January 31, 2010, at 4:37 pm, Gary Trei, age 64 of Sibley, Iowa was driving a 2004 Buick Rainier, northbound on McKinley Avenue, north of 200th Street when the wheels got into the icy ruts on the roadway and caused the vehicle to slid into the east ditch and roll onto the drivers side.  Trei’s vehicle sustained approximately $4,000 damage.  No injuries were reported.

January 30, 2010, at 9:40 pm, Curtis Salton, age 51 of Ayrshire, Iowa was driving a 2005 Ford Five Hundred, southbound on Hwy 60, south of 230th Street and struck a deer on the roadway.  Salton’s vehicle sustained approximately $1,500 damage.  No injuries were reported.

January 30, 2010, at 6:35 am, Elizabeth Hoekstra, age 28 of Ocheyedan, Iowa was driving a 2006 Ford Freestyle, southbound on Vine Avenue, south of 160th Street when the vehicle started to slide sideways due to the ice and deep ruts on the roadway.  Hoekstra’s vehicle entered the east ditch where it rolled onto its right side.  Hoekstra’s vehicle sustained approximately $3,500 damage.  Hoekstra sustained possible injuries but refused medical attention from the scene. 

January 29, 2010, Johan Michael Fourie, age 25 of Harris, Iowa, pled guilty to No Driver’s License, a Simple Misdemeanor.  The Defendant is to pay a fine of $775, the cost of this action, restitution of any court appointed attorney fees, and victim restitution, if any.  The Defendant is sentenced to imprisonment in the Osceola County Jail for a term of 30 days, with 28 days suspended.  The Defendant is placed on informal probation to the Osceola County Sheriff for a period of 2 years.  On June 27, 2009, Johan Fourie was driving a 2008 Kawasaki 4-wheeler, northbound on Yew Avenue, south of 200th Street and collided with two dogs on the roadway.  Following an investigation, Fourie was cited for failure to have a valid Driver’s License to operate a motor vehicle. 

January 29, 2010, Shane William Lea, age 34 of Council Bluffs, Iowa, pled guilty to Operating While Intoxicated 2nd Offense, an Aggravated Misdemeanor.  The Defendant is to pay a fine of $2,641.25, the cost of this action, and restitution of any court appointed attorney fees, if any.  The Defendant is sentenced to imprisonment in the Osceola County Jail for a term of 60 days, with 53 days suspended.  The Defendant is placed on informal probation to the Osceola County Sheriff for a period of 2 years.  The Defendant shall undergo a substance abuse evaluation and comply with the treatments recommendations.  On September 19, 2009, Shane Lea was stopped on 170th Street, east of Hwy 59 for speeding.  During the course of the stop, an Osceola County Deputy could smell a strong odor of alcohol on Lea’s breath.  Lea failed sobriety tests and tested over.08.  Lea was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated 2nd Offense. 

January 29, 2010, Christopher Michael Mort, age 37 of Sheldon, Iowa pled guilty to Contempt of Court for violating the terms of his probation, Operating While Intoxicated 1st Offense, a Serious Misdemeanor.  The Defendant is sentenced to imprisonment in the Osceola County Jail for a term of 30 days, with 20 days suspended pending full payment of all financial obligations.  The Defendant currently owes $1,760 in fines, plus any new cost for this action, and restitution of any court appointed attorney fees, if any.  The Defendant shall undergo a substance abuse evaluation and comply with the treatments recommendations.  On June 21, 2008, Christopher Mort was stopped at the intersection of 220th Street and Silver Avenue for a moving violation.  During the course of the stop, an Osceola County Deputy could smell and alcoholic beverage on Mort’s breath.  Mort failed sobriety tests and tested over .08.  Mort was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated 1st Offense. 

January 27, 2010, Jose Guadalupe Rodriguez, age 33, Sibley, IA has been arrested by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office on a charge of Sexual Abuse in the Third Degree, a Class “C” Felony.  Rodriguez is alleged to have had sexual contact with a 14-year-old victim.  Rodriguez was placed in jail and is being held on a $10,000 bond.

January 26, 2010, at 6:40 pm, Terry Ackerman, age 29 of Sibley, Iowa was backing a 1998 Chevrolet pickup from a residential driveway on 8th Avenue, north of 4th Street in Sibley, Iowa and struck a legally parked 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada owned by Darci Gonzalez, age 29 of Worthington, Minnesota.  Ackerman’s vehicle, owned by Sibley Sheet Metal Inc. of Sibley, Iowa sustained approximately $100 damage.  Gonzalez’s vehicle sustained approximately $1,000 damage.  No injuries were reported.

January 26, 2010, at 3:00 pm, Rebecca Kamm, age 32 of Sibley, Iowa was driving a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix, eastbound on Poplar Drive, west of 9th Avenue in Sibley, Iowa.  While driving on the icy roadway, Kamm attempted to brake, which made the vehicle spin and strike a legally parked 2008 Buick Lucerne, owned by Joann Newman, age 75 of Sibley, Iowa.  Newman’s vehicle sustained approximately $2,000 damage.  Kamm’s vehicle sustained approximately $2,000 damage and was given a citation for Failure to Maintain Control.  No injuries were reported.

January 25, 2010, at 2:45 pm, David Bosma, age 40 of Allendorf, Iowa was driving a 2000 Ford pickup, eastbound on 170th Street, approaching the intersection of Hwy 59.  Jesse Richardson, age 20 of Sibley, Iowa was driving a 2000 Dodge Durango, eastbound on 170th Street, approaching the intersection of Hwy 59 and did not see Bosma’s vehicle because of the poor visibility and collided on the roadway.  Bosma’s vehicle sustained approximately $2,500 damage.  Richardson’s vehicle, owned by Alan Siemers of Ocheyedan, Iowa, sustained approximately $10,000 damage.  Richardson was given a citation for Following Too Closely.  No injuries were reported.

January 24, 2010, at 11:10 pm, Gary Lee Fiddler, age 58 of Estherville, Iowa was driving a 2003 Dodge Dakota, northbound on Hwy 60, at the intersection of 190th Street and struck a deer on the roadway.  Fiddler’s vehicle sustained approximately $4,000 damage.  No injuries were reported.

January 20, 2010, at 9:56 am, Kenneth Champine, age 73 of Sibley, Iowa was driving a 1999 Ford Crown Vic, southbound on 6th Avenue, stopped at the intersection of 5th Street in Sibley, Iowa.  Michelle Lowe, age 33 of Sibley, Iowa was driving a 2006 Dodge Charger, eastbound on 5th Street, east of 6th Avenue when Champine attempted to hurry through the intersection but was unable to get enough traction because of the icy road conditions.  Lowe attempted to brake but was not able to stop due to the icy road conditions and collided with Champine in the intersection.  Lowe’s vehicle sustained approximately $1,500 damage.  Champine’s vehicle sustained approximately $2,000 damage and was given a citation for Failure to Obey Stop Sign.  No injuries were reported.

January 18, 2010, Christopher Michael Mort, age 37 of Sheldon, Iowa was arrested on a valid Osceola County Warrant for a Probation Revocation, Operating While Intoxicated 1st Offense, a Serious Misdemeanor.  Mort was booked into the Osceola County Jail on a $2,500 cash bond.

January 18, 2010, at 5:10 am, David VanBriesen, age 47 of Sibley, Iowa was driving a 1999 Oldsmobile, westbound on 230th Street, east of Olive Avenue and struck a deer on the roadway.  VanBriesen’s vehicle sustained approximately $1,500 damage.  No injuries were reported. 

January 18, 2010, an Osceola County deputy conducted a traffic stop in Ashton for a traffic violation.  Jason Devos, age 28 of Sheldon, Iowa was arrested for allegedly Driving While Suspended, a Simple Misdemeanor and issued a traffic citation for Improper Use of Lanes.  Devos was transported to the Osceola County Jail and was later released after posting a $438.38 cash bond. 

January 17, 2010, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office investigated a report of an assault that took place in Sibley. After the investigation, deputies arrested Wayne Hayden, age 30, of Sibley, Iowa and Jessica Klein, age 30, of Sibley, Iowa. Hayden and Klein were both charged for allegedly committing Domestic Assault, a Simple Misdemeanor. Hayden and Klein were booked into the Osceola County Jail and later released on a $500 recognizance bond.

January 15, 2010, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 515 3rd Street in Sibley, Iowa. Deputies located a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana and several items of paraphernalia. Anton Alsip, age 28 of Sibley, Iowa was arrested for allegedly having Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Offense, an Aggravated Misdemeanor; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor; and Prohibited Acts, an Aggravated Misdemeanor. Deputies also discovered a prescription medication and learned that Alsip did not have a prescription for the medication. Alsip was then also charged for allegedly having Unlawful Possession of a Prescription Drug, a Serious Misdemeanor. Alsip was booked into the Osceola County Jail and later released after posting a $2,000 cash bond.

January 14, 2010, Blaine Alan Arlo Collin, age 20 of Worthington, Minnesota, pled guilty to Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Serious Misdemeanor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor.  The Defendant shall pay a fine of $465, the cost of this action, and restitution of any court appointed attorney fees, if any.  The Defendant is placed on informal probation to the Osceola County Sheriff for a period of 1 year with a Deferred Judgment pending successful completion of the probation requirements.  On May 9, 2009, an Osceola County Deputy conducted a traffic stop for an equipment violation in Sibley, Iowa.  Blaine Alan Arlo Collin was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia following a consent search of the vehicle, which produced a pipe with burnt marijuana. 

January 14, 2010, at 2:00 pm, Christina Greenfield, age 28 of Sibley, Iowa was driving a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan, eastbound on 3rd Street, approaching the intersection of 3rd Avenue in Sibley, Iowa.  Stefanie Ludwig, age 18 of Sibley, Iowa was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier, southbound on 3rd Avenue, stopped at the intersection of 3rd Street.  Ludwig was unable to see oncoming traffic due to the large snow pile blocking her view and proceeded through the intersection and collided with Greenfield’s vehicle.  Greenfield’s vehicle sustained approximately $3,500 damage.  Ludwig’s vehicle sustained approximately $4,500 damage and was given a citation for Failure to Yield to Vehicle on the Right.  No injuries were reported. 

January 14, 2010, at 7:14 pm, Marcus DeBoer, age 63 of Sibley, Iowa was driving a 1982 Chevrolet S10, westbound on 5th Street, stopped at the intersection of 2nd Avenue in Sibley, Iowa.  Kristin Habben, age 29 of Sibley, Iowa was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Impala, northbound on 2nd Avenue, and signaled to make a right turn onto 5th Street and could not make the turn due to the icy road conditions and collided with DeBoer’s vehicle which began to enter 2nd Avenue.  DeBoer’s vehicle sustained approximately $1,500 damage.  Habben’s vehicle sustained approximately $850 damage.  No injuries were reported.

January 14, 2010, McKenzie Rehborg, age 22 of Emmetsburg, Iowa, pled guilty to Driving While Barred, an Aggravated Misdemeanor.  The Defendant is to pay a fine of $943.75, the cost of this action, and restitution of any court appointed attorney fees, if any.  The Defendant is sentenced to imprisonment in the Osceola County Jail for a term of 60 days, with 56 days suspended.  The Defendant is placed on informal probation to the Osceola County Sheriff for a period of 2 years.  On June 6, 2009, an Osceola County Deputy observed McKenzie Rehborg exit a vehicle she was driving on Cherry Street in Ocheyedan, Iowa.  A check of Rehborg’s driving record showed she was Barred from driving.  Rehborg was arrested for Driving While Barred and transported to the Osceola County Jail for processing.

January 14, 2010, Matthew John Van Meeteren, age 31 of Sheldon, Iowa, pled guilty to Operating While Intoxicated 1st Offense, a Serious Misdemeanor.  The Defendant is to pay a fine of $953.75, the cost of this action, and restitution of any court appointed attorney fees, if any.  The Defendant is sentenced to imprisonment in the Osceola County Jail for a period of 30 days, with 28 days suspended and placed on informal probation to the Osceola County Sheriff for a period of 2 years.  The Defendant shall undergo a substance abuse evaluation and comply with the treatments recommendations.  On October 18, 2009, an Osceola County Deputy conducted a traffic stop on 260th Street and Hwy 60 when a vehicle, driven by Matthew Van Meeteren, failed to yield to the officer’s patrol car.  The officer could detect an odor of an alcoholic beverage on Van Meeteren’s breath and tested over .08.  Van Meeteren was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated 1st Offense and transported to the Osceola County Jail for processing.

January 13, 2010, at 8:10 am, Karen Doorenbos, age 47 of Sibley, Iowa was driving a 1996 Ford Taurus westbound on Poplar Drive, at the intersection of 7th Avenue in Sibley, Iowa.  Amy Gruis, age 33 of Sibley, Iowa was driving a 2006 Mazda, northbound on 7th Avenue, stopped at the intersection of Poplar Drive and could not see oncoming traffic due to the snow piles and collided with Doorenbas’ vehicle in the intersection.  Doorenbas’ vehicle sustained approximately $500 damage.  Gruis’ vehicle sustained approximately $2,000 damage.  No injuries were reported.

January 11, 2010, at 2:15 pm, Michael Schulte, age 58 of Sibley, Iowa was driving a 2000 Buick Park Avenue, southbound on 4th Avenue, approaching the intersection of 11th Street in Sibley, Iowa.  Tenille Broesder, age 20 of Little Rock, Iowa was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu, eastbound on 11th Street, approaching the intersection of 4th Avenue and was driving too fast for the icy road conditions and was not able to stop at the intersection.  Broesder then attempted to make a left turn onto 4th Avenue and collided with Schulte’s vehicle on the roadway.  Schulte’s vehicle sustained approximately $600 damage.  Broesder’s vehicle sustained approximately $3,000 damage and was given a citation for Failure to Yield Upon Left Turn.  No injuries were reported.

January 11, 2010, at 5:48 pm, Leesa Adreon, age 53 of Sibley, Iowa was driving a 1996 Cadillac Deville, eastbound on 170th Street, east of Oak Hill Avenue, waiting for oncoming traffic to pass before making a left turn onto a residential driveway in Osceola County.  Jacob Laverman, age 18 of Ocheyedan, Iowa was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Impala, eastbound on 170th Street, east of Oak Hill Avenue and failed to see Adreon’s vehicle stopped on the highway, signaling to make a left turn and collided on the roadway.  Adreon’s vehicle sustained approximately $8,000 damage.  Laverman’s vehicle sustained approximately $8,500 damage and was given a citation for Failure to Maintain Control.  Adreon sustained possible injuries but refused medical attention at the scene.  No other injuries were reported.

January 11, 2010, at 5:50 pm, Rebeca VanderMeulen, age 19 of Ocheyedan, Iowa was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox, eastbound on 130th Street, west of 100th Avenue in Osceola County.  Christofer Luinstra, age 17 of Harris, Iowa was driving a 2006 Pontiac G6 westbound on 130th Street, west of 100th Avenue and swerved onto the eastbound lane to avoid a large snow drift blocking the westbound lane of traffic.  Luinstra then sideswiped VanderMeulen’s vehicle while attempting to return to the westbound lane.  Luinstra’s vehicle sustained approximately $1,500 damage.  VanderMeulen’s vehicle sustained approximately $6,500 damage.  No injuries were reported.

January 9, 2010, at 1:30 pm, Julie Roghair, age 46 of Sibley, Iowa was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu westbound on Hwy 9, east of Nettle Avenue when Roghair lost control, entered the north ditch where the vehicle rolled onto its top.  The vehicle, owned by Deborah Roghair of Sibley, Iowa sustained approximately $5,000 damage.  Roghair was taken to the Osceola Community Hospital with possible injuries.  Sibley Fire and Rescue and Sibley Ambulance assisted at the scene. 

January 9, 2010, at 2:43 pm, Jerry Johnson, age 66 of Sibley, Iowa was driving a 2000 Lincoln LS, westbound on 5th Street, near the intersection of 7th Avenue in Sibley, Iowa.  Beverlee Heideman, age 74 of Sibley, Iowa was driving a 1998 Ford Contour, southbound on 7th Avenue, approaching the intersection of 5th Street and was unable to stop at the stop sign due to the icy road conditions and collided with Johnson’s vehicle in the intersection.  Heideman’s vehicle sustained approximately $1,500 damage.  Johnson’s vehicle sustained approximately $2,500 damage.  No injuries were reported.

January 7, 2010, the Osceola County Sheriff's Office arrested 48 year old Marlin Lee Jensen for allegedly operating without owner's consent (aggravated misdemeanor) and possession of stolen property (simple misdemeanor).  The arrest stemmed from a traffic stop in Sibley for an equipment failure on a snowmobile.

January 6, 2010, at 1:14pm, Madison Fisher, age 16 of Bigelow, Minnesota was driving a 1989 Chevrolet Blazer, eastbound on 170th Street, east of Golf View Drive in Sibley, Iowa.  Bruce Harper, age 57 of Sibley, Iowa was driving a 1988 Chevrolet pickup, westbound on 170th Street, east of Golf View Drive when Fisher lost control due to the snow covered roadways, crossed the center line and hit Harper’s vehicle head on.  Harper’s vehicle, owned by Ned DeBoer of Sibley, Iowa sustained approximately $2,000 damage.  Fisher’s vehicle, owned by Jeffrey VanGelder of Bigelow, Minnesota sustained approximately $2,000 damage.  Fisher and a passenger, Megan Fisher, age 16 of Bigelow, Minnesota were both taken to the Osceola Community Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.  Sibley Fire and Rescue and Sibley Ambulance assisted at the scene.

January 6, 2010, at 2:26pm, Joy Curry, age 33 of Sibley, Iowa was backing a 2002 Chevrolet pickup from a residential driveway on 5th Street, east of 3rd Avenue in Sibley, Iowa.  Margaret Dagel, age 20 of Sibley, Iowa was driving a 2002 Dodge Dakota, eastbound on 5th Street, east of 3rd Avenue and struck Curry’s vehicle on the roadway.  Curry was not able to see oncoming traffic due to large snow piles at the end of the driveway.  Curry’s vehicle sustained approximately $1,000 damage.  Dagel’s vehicle sustained approximately $1,500 damage.  No injuries were reported. 

January 5, 2010, at 10:15pm, Martin Berghorst, age 64 of Clara City, Minnesota was driving a 2009 International semi, southbound on Hwy 59, north of 270th Street when Berghorst fell asleep, causing the semi and trailer to enter the west ditch.  The semi, owned by Jacobson Transport Inc of Wahpeton, North Dakota, sustained approximately $2,000 damage.  Berghorst was given a citation for Failure to Maintain Control.  No injuries were reported.

January 4, 2010, at 2:15 pm, Arthur Place, age 77 of Sibley, Iowa was driving a 2001 Honda Civic, northbound on 4th Avenue and stopped at the intersection of 5th Street in Sibley, Iowa.  Caleb Hartwig, age 16 of Ocheyedan, Iowa was driving a 1998 Cadillac Seville, eastbound on 5th Street, at the intersection of 4th Avenue and was struck by Place’s vehicle in the intersection.  Place’s vehicle sustained approximately $800 damage.  Hartwig’s vehicle sustained approximately $3,500 damage.  No injuries were reported.

January 3, 2010, at 5:03 pm, Hassan Mohamed, age 24 of South Sioux City, Nebraska was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer, southbound on Hwy 60, near the intersection of Hwy 9 when a the left tire blown out causing the vehicle to enter the median.  The Trailblazer, owned by Khalid Abshir of Sioux City, Iowa sustained approximately $1,500 damage.  No injuries were reported.

January 1, 2010, at 3:45 pm, Alfred Viera, age 26 of Sibley, Iowa was driving a 1996 Chevrolet Blazer, southbound on 5th Avenue, at the intersection of 7th Street in Sibley, Iowa.  Troy Winkel, age 29 of Sheldon, Iowa was driving a 2007 Ford pickup, westbound on 7th Street, at the intersection of 5th Avenue and collided with Viera’s vehicle in the intersection due to the large snow piles blocking there view to the intersection.  Viera’s vehicle sustained approximately $1,500 damage.  Winkel’s vehicle sustained approximately $5,000 damage.  No injuries were reported.

January 1, 2010, at 1:56 am, Stacey Honkomp, age 19 of Ashton, Iowa was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Lumina northbound on Nest Avenue, north of 260th Street in rural Osceola County.  Robert Ironshell, age 21 of George, Iowa was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Venture, northbound on Nest Avenue, north of 260th Street when the vehicle he was driving began to have mechanical problems and stopped in the middle of the roadway.  Ironshell’s vehicle did not have any lights or flashers on to warn oncoming traffic.  Honkomp attempted to brake when seeing Ironshell's vehicle but was unable due to the icy road conditions and rear-ended Ironshell’s vehicle.  Honkomp’s vehicle sustained approximately $3,000 damage.  The Chevrolet Venture, owned by Jessica Dawdy of Ashton, Iowa, sustained approximately $2,000 damage.  Ironshell was arrest for allegedly Driving While Suspended, a Simple Misdemeanor and given a citation for Stopping on Roadway.  Honkomp and Ironshell sustained possible injuries but refused medical attention at the scene.  A passenger in Ironshell's vehicle, Tony Blair, age 28 of Ashton, Iowa also sustained possible injuries but refused medical attention at the scene.
