Kyzer is a male German Shepherd that began working with the Osceola County Sheriff's office in September of 2004.  Kyzer was purchased with money donated by individuals and businesses in Osceola County.  Kyzer is trained in narcotics detection, criminal apprehension and handler protection.  Kyzer can recognize the smell of marijuana, methamphetamine, cocaine, and heroin.  Kyzer can also search buildings for suspects that are hiding, can track suspects that have run away and can search open fields for evidence containing human scent.  In 2005, Kyzer was awarded the top rookie trophy at the Iowa K-9 trials.  Deputy Wyatt Dagel is Kyzer's handler at work and is also responsible for the care of Kyzer when the team is off duty.
